A week ago, I shared about a tried-and-true natural facial cleanser. Hope you’ve had the opportunity to try it for yourself and have started to see some results. After some time, you’ll notice the more you use the oatmeal honey cleanser, your face will feel tight and a little dry, so you’ll need to use a good moisturizer.
Today I’m sharing a natural facial moisturizer that I’ve been using for the last several months that I found online and researched the ingredients. Over the years, I’ve tried several over-the-counter facial moisturizers that have only continued to dry my skin. Some of the ingredients I couldn’t even pronounce or much less know the damage it could be causing to my overall health. One of the ingredients found in this store-bought facial moisturizer is butylated hydroxytoluene or BHT, which according to Chemsec Sin list, BHT has demonstrated endocrine disruptive effects particularly on thyroid function. It may also have effects on the sex hormones and may affect fertility and development.
After reading this, I thought oh my goodness, could this chemical, been the cause of my thyroid condition? I knew I had to find an alternative for a facial moisturizer, plus I also read that starting in our mid-20s, we slowly begin to lose collagen. For women, we can lose up to 30% of our collagen production in the first 5 years of menopause.
Well, I read about this facial moisturizer that has all natural ingredients that has given me excellent results. It’s a combination of frankincense oil, shea butter, jojoba oil and rosehip oil.
Frankincense essential oil

Frankincense is the gum or resin of the Boswellia tree. The essential oil is an antiseptic, with disinfectant qualities that eliminates germs. According to a 2012 study, it also has antimicrobial properties and may protect against pathogens. It too can be applied to wounds to protect them from developing infections.
It has astringent properties, which works at deeper levels for troubled skin and works especially well on oily skin types.
It can help with sunspots, remove micro-wrinkles around the eyes and cheeks and generally tone and tighten skin all over the body, while simultaneously raiding cell regeneration.
One of the most remarkable properties of this essential oil is it can help reduce scars and marks of boils, acne and pox on the skin fade at a much faster rate. This also includes the facing of stretch marks and surgery scars.
Shea Butter

Shea butter is another miraculous natural ingredient that is extracted from the nuts of shea tree. It has a high concentration of vitamins and fatty acids. It is anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal, which can help with acne, collagen and cell regeneration. Read the full article on the qualities of Shea butter here.
Jojoba Oil

Jojoba plant is a hearty that is native to Northern Mexico and Southwestern USA. Jojoba oil is used in many cosmetic products as a carrier oil that will not go rancid.
There is plenty of evidence supporting the use of pure jojoba oil as a remedy for acne, dry skin and countless other skin conditions. Read the full article on the qualities of jojoba oil here.
Rosehip Oil

Rosehip seed oil, comes from the rosa canina rose bush, which is grown mostly in Chile.
It has amazing qualities such as hydrating, moisturizing, firming, anti-inflammatory, among many more. Read the full article on the qualities of rosehip oil here.
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own Face Cream with anti-aging properties. Most of these products can be found at your local Sprouts or Whole Foods Market.

¼ cup Shea butter
15 drops Frankincense Essential Oil
2 tablespoons Jojoba Oil
1 tablespoon Rosehip Oil
Instructions:
Take a small glass bowl and add the ¼ cup shea butter. Place the bowl over a saucepan filled with a few inches of water. Heat the saucepan until the shea butter melts using a double boiler system.
Once the shea butter is melted take it off the stove and add in 1 tablespoon of rosehip oil and 2 tablespoons of jojoba oil.
Allow the mixture to cool at room temperature or you can place the mixture in the refrigerator for about 30-45 minutes.
The mixture will become opaque but not too hard. If it's too hard, allow it to sit out for a little bit, until it becomes soft.
Store the cream in an airtight glass jar. I keep mine in my bathroom cabinet to easily access each day.

To use, apply a little bit of the facial cream (a little bit goes a long way) to your cleansed face. Use in the evening before you go to bed, after you've removed your make up and cleansed your face. Use also as part of your morning routine. I have applied my make up over this moisturizer, it works very well as a primer too.
Before you apply to your face, test in a small area first for any potential reactions.
Also note that this moisturizer is not recommended for pregnant women, infants and young children.
Hope you enjoy this moisturizer with all natural ingredients, as much as I have!
